ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

The meeting opened at 10:38 am with President Edward Patton in the chair.

REPORTS:
Minutes of the 2016 October Regular Meeting, posted on the website are approved as written.
Minutes of the 2016 December Board of Trustees Meeting, posted on the website are approved as written.
The Treasurer reported an October 2016 ending balance of $2,891.78 and a current, January 2017, balance of $2,602.90. Income and expenditures have been detailed at quarterly meetings. Report as approved by the membership is to be posted on the website.
The Treasurer has prepared a proposed budget for the upcoming year. It is available for review by the membership. We have recently acquired QuikBooks and our financial records are being entered into that system. The Treasurer noted that she has been in that office since the founding of BIGS twenty years ago. An audit of our accounts has not been conducted in that time. The Treasurer has suggested that an audit be scheduled.

STATUS:
The President reported on the current 501 (c)(3) status of BIGS as both a library and a museum, describing the history of achieving that status for the benefit of new members.
Treasurer Donna Shine reported on the collection and submission of NYS Sales Tax charged on applicable items available in the Library.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Election scheduled for 2018. No action taken at this time.
